In April of 2023, the Government of Suriname approved a plan to issue an open call to interested parties to develop the bauxite deposits in West-Suriname, in an area known as “Bakhuis”. To this end, the President of the Republic of Suriname, His Excellency Chadrikapersad Santokhi, instated the “Presidential Commission West-Suriname Bakhuis Development” in the second quarter of 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This Commission has collected all data with respect to West-Suriname bauxite, hydroelectric potential, infrastructure, etc., and has worked hard on establishing the process that will be used to identify and attract investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
